a) State of the School Summary
a. Building Updates
*Sod getting put in this week, Habitat is getting sod and Dawn Monroe has volunteered to work on the habitat, technology is closer to be finished
*Grand re-opening: tentatively scheduled for Sat., October 17. This celebration will have a 50’s theme while Meadowlark celebrates 50 great years! There will be a cook-out and carnival and it will be opened to the public. Every grade level is making something for a time capsule that will be buried and dug up in another 50 years.

About 1/3 interested district wide, there will probably be at least 1 All-day Kindergarten at each building (Prairie Creek???)

Stacey King had an after school program for those who could be bumped from ES to EX. The kids loved going and the data shows great results of this program

This was discussed and a few member terms expire this year, they may choose to stay on site council. Let Jody know either way, so she can find a replacement.

March 11, 2009 Minutes:
Members Present: Jody Baker, Butch Thomas, Scott Wilson, Kay Lawrence, Dawn Monroe, Amy Arhnold.
We met and toured the construction underway at Meadowlark Building. Tour was led by ______ from the architecture firm.
After the tour, Jody spoke briefly about the All Day Kin, State Assessments & passed out the 2009-2010 school calendar.
Scott Wilson spoke briefly about the Budget Advisory Committee.

Dawn touched on the highlights from the meeting.

Jody filled us in on the state budget information and encouraged us to tell our neighbors to contact their legislators

c) Meadowlark Update – Jody Baker: It will open next year, and
Bruce Sanderson came and talked about the additions and renovations to Meadowlark. He showed updated pictures and plans on what the “new and approved” Meadowlark will look like. He answered any questions we had concerning Meadowlark and its facilities. He also asked for input and suggestions.

a) All Day Kindergarten - Now Board Approved - How will it work? - Jody Baker
Fee based, opt in. We will know more after Kindergarten round up which is March 3rd at M@PC for the South end schools.
VI. New Business
a) Staff Placement & What does reduced staff mean? - Jody Baker
Teachers turn in transition forms on March 5th. An example of reduced staff might mean we will have .8 CAMP teachers instead of 1.0. CAMP teachers will more than likely be shared with other buildings. Once enrollment numbers and teacher placements are in, we will know more.
b) State Assessments - Schedule, Incentives, and Motivational Activities - Jody Baker
We will have the same incentives from last year. We will have an assembly Thursday, Feb. 26th for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders to get pumped up for assessments. Mike Ehrstein will juggle and the ACHS Cheerleaders will come and do a cheer to get students pepped up! Assessments will start Tuesday, March 3rd and last through the first week of April.

a) PTO—Carmen Schulte: Check PTO Report link on the Site Council Wiki: Dawn reported about the upcoming author visit. Brad Sneed will be here in March for Read Across America Week.
b) Legislative Council—Carmen Schulte
The minutes are on the site Council Wiki under Legislative Council. The main item discussed was the budget. They are looking to change the date of meetings, so look at the schedule for more information.

We reviewed the climate survey and discussed highlighted points and Jody answered any questions we had.
VI. New Business
a) All Day Kindergarten Proposal--Jody Baker
Information was presented on a Fee-Based All Day Kindergarten that the district is looking into. There are several proposals. It will pay for itself; there would be a ½ day Kindergarten offered too. (Dawn will get connected with the Future All-Stars and Mothers and More Groups to get input.
b) Summer School Discussion--Jody Baker
b) Budget Issues & Budget Advisory Committee--Scott Wilson
Scott Wilson is on the committee and will keep us updated on the Wiki under the Budget Advisory Committee Blog. So far they have been reviewing data and options. All meetings are open to the public, you may go and listen. If you have any questions or ideas contact Scott.
d) General FYI-- Jody Baker
* Prairie Creek Principal: The new principal is ShellyJonas, she comes from the Maize district.
* Meadowlark Construction Update: Jody reported that Meadowlark is looking good. Walls are up in the cafeteria and office. So far it is expected to be opened on time.

Many of our teachers received the grant money for the grants written. Total giving amount this year was greater than $53,000!

Amy shared a little about PAT. This program is for children ages 0 – 3. It focuses on Language, Social Skills and Develop. Once a month there are play groups and home visits. Twice a month there is a KinderMusic group.
